PREMIUM DEMO - Destroy
This is one from Exuvium that almost made it to the final but I scrapped last minute, it was recorded entirely with a 360 binaural microphone in a big warehouse with beautiful natural reverb. If you put headphones on you can hear the voices coming from all around you.
It was interesting to record because I had to sing 25 different parts without getting any audio bleed, and I hadn't written the parts yet. I only had about an hour to record so I didn't have time to lay everything out first, I just had to wing it, so I mentally built the parts out and ran around the room with one earbud in to play a base track, keeping track of the previous positions to make sure each voice had its own spot.
It would have been an interlude, something to set the tone for the track after it, but I didn't end up needing anymore of those. There was also almost too much natural reverb, the placement of the individual voices didn't end up being clarified enough sonically. I was trying to fit this refrain somewhere on the album to mirror the spoken word part in the intro, "Patron saint of the void! O terror! O exuvium! Destroy! Destroy! Destroy!" But at the end of the day I never want to add things to an album just for the sake of fitting them in, so I trashed it.
I did end up using it for the ATMOS premiere in which was fun, but aside from that it just sits on my hard drive.
