Update Blog - 9/14/19
With the change on my schedule for this month, it seems like I'm gonna be releasing some videos earlier as planned. I thought some of these would be by the end of the month, but instead, you got 'em now! I'm still hard at work on making some new ones and some for the later future. With that said, let's talk about my week!
- Released my review of Cybersix: It's very rare that I get to review something that's a true blast from the past for me. I remember Cybersix was one of those shows I remember as a kid when they would do reruns on Teletoon (the Canadian equivalent of Cartoon Network) from time to time and seemed pretty interesting, like a different take on Gargoyles and Batman: The Animated Series. Going back to it now with a more critical mindset and it's a lot more solid than I remember. You know a show is good when the worst thing to say about it is that there aren't enough episodes. It brings back the memories of the small elements that I could recall from the show, but now seeing the context of everything makes a lot more sense and amazed how the quality of the writing and animation is so strong. By the way, here are 2 fun facts: Originally, I wanted to include a clip of the commentary on why the show had to be cancelled and bought the DVD of the series on Amazon, but as I'm writing this, I still haven't received it yet. Who knew it would be in limited quantity? XP Also, I've stated that the series had to tone down some of the more mature themes of the original comic it's based on like the Nazi imagery. But even just by looking at the covers of those comics, they certainly are, uh...very adult-oriented, I will say (look it up on Google Images and you'll see what I mean). But anyways, it was great to go back to an old series I haven't seen in years and it definitely was worth the nostalgia trip :)
- Released the new Art of AniMat of the Tiki Mask: This was a fun little experiment to think outside the box. I've always wanted to make some kind of sculpture with my spare Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, but the catch was always... of what? I thought about keeping the Yu-Gi-Oh! theme like a dragon or one of the pots, but those are pretty complex. I'd have to climb my way up and know what to do in the first place to tackle those. I decided a Tiki Mask should be simple enough and just go from there. I can plan a bit with some concept designs, but after that, I just keep moving forward and glue them one by one. I'm not sure how many cards I used, but I know I still got tons of more extra cards to spare. To be honest, I'm really happy with the final result and glad that I also made it functional as a mask that you can see through (well, a bit, but still works). I'm so proud of it that I even hung it up on my wall. Since this is just a bunch of cards held together with hot glue, I don't know how long this will last, but at least for the moment that it's still up, it looks awesome. In case you want a good look at the final result, then check this out!

- Recorded & Edited the Sequel Editorial: Throughout most of the week, I was setting up to make my sequel to one of my previous editorials. There have been some back and forth with my collaborators and a bit of troubleshooting to get the audio and the green screen sound and look good respectively, but after all that, I think I've made something that will deliver a lot of great juicy material to continue my old story. I am considering maybe to have this out by next week, but we'll see what the other people will say first if there are any revisions or need any stuff to add. Not much else I can add without revealing the subject, so I will say that this will get quite explosive, and it can be more than just from the video itself.
- Starting the new AniMat's Classic Reviews: Been a while since I've done some of these, but considering that soon it would be time to make more, better now than never if I wanna get ahead of my work. Now that I am more comfortable that (at least most of) my Sequel Editorial is complete, I can move ahead and start doing some reviews to get back with my critic side. It'll also be a bit of good exercise with my mind to prepare myself for Abominable coming later this month. It'll be a nice weekend project in the meantime, so it's good to just settle with something small compared to the stuff I have coming up.
- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Sunday the 15th and at 2pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat.
And that should take care of what I've planned for this week. Who knows what the next videos are gonna be in the coming weeks, but I'll just roll with it and see what happens. Either way, I'm sure you'll have a good time with 'em, so until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
