Update Blog - 2/25/23
This is the week where I'm back in full historian mode and it feels so good! Now that I'm able to make more of those history videos, I feel more confident in myself as a content creator and that I can finally show that I can be more than just a reviewer. Even now, not only did I put up a new history video, but I'm making another one now with my long-running series. I think it's safe to say that it's been going great with my work, so here's what happened this week.
- Released the History of the Pinocchio Premiere: First off, how the fridge did I even hear about this story in the first place? Honestly, it was on social media where someone made a post of random weird Hollywood facts and something in my imagination just sparked that I had to talk about it. Originally, I thought about turning this into a short TikTok video, but the nature of this little trivia was just so wild that I knew that I had to make something bigger about this. I've made a promise to myself that I would make more history videos this year, and this subject felt like it was perfect to bring back that one-off format of talking in front of the green screen. Also, yes, I am aware of the Disney Dan video that he did a few years ago where he talked about the same subject, but I wanted to go even further than what he did and take my researching skills to the max to highlight everything about this story, even its legitimacy. So far, this video is already among my "Best of 2023" list. I'm really proud of what I did with this one and I hope I'll be able to do more soon!
- Finished the next Series Review: While the Kill la Kill review is not amongst my biggest hits in terms of viewership, the reception that I received was actually quite positive, which was a great relief and gave me the confidence that this vlog-style format can work out when talking about TV Shows and and other long-form media. I carried this over to the next one that I worked on and I might even say that this could be better than the Kill la Kill one. I was able to make all my points clear, add some extra entertainment to it and still made the editing look professional and strong as I splice in clips of what I'm talking about. And of course, this saved me a lot of time in the production where I was able to finish this off early in the week. It was a fun subject to talk about and I'm sure you'll have fun too when the review comes out in the next few weeks.
- Started Writing on Part 5 of Animation Lookback: The Muppets: Now that I'm done watching several episodes of a whole series and talking about it, I've returned to the Muppets and started work on the next part. I know that many are not excited with how this one will start, and I will say that yes, this will being on a somber note. However, I realized when writing and researching that I can take advantage of the emotional power of not just that one segment, but for the whole part to make this more engaging. And as I'm continuing the progress and writing more of the script, I can see that this is shaping up to be a really good part. Maybe it's too early to say because I'm around halfway into the writing as you're reading this, but there is a chance that this could be the best part yet, especially now that I'm no longer following the same trail as Defunctland and the whole AL can start to truly shine as its own Muppet documentary. There's still a lot more work to be done, but it's so far going great!
So that's been my history-filled week, and it's honestly been a long time since I've felt this way about myself and that the work that I'm doing is going to be great. As we're concluding the second month of the year, I can already feel that 2023 is going to be positively special for both me and my channel. I know I say this often, I but I really mean it when I say stay tuned, because there's a lot more exciting videos to come! So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
